What Does it Take to Become
One of Our Contractors?
Many contractors request to become a member with NJ Contractor Connection, but only the best are accepted. We place every contractor through an extensive screening process before they are approved for membership.
• Each company must possess all licenses required by the state in order to operate. We personally verify that each license is valid and current.
• Hard copy proof of liability insurance must be presented to us. Again, we personally verify that this information is up to date, and in force.
• NJ Contractor Connection researches and reviews testimonials from past customers and takes note of both complaints and rave reviews.
• Criminal record and sex offender checks are performed on the contractor.
• The contractor's ID is verified through a background check, phone number check, and alias search.
• We perform a legal search to determine if there are any civil judgements, liens, or bankruptcies that have occurred in the past, are presently ongoing, or are pending.
• We will search on Angie's List for both positive and negative reviews of the contractor as well as contact the Better Business Bureau for any customer complaints.
• The contractor must be in operation for a minimum of 3 consecutive years.
• The contractor must guarantee their work for a minimum of 1 year after completion.
If the contractor fails to meet any of these specifications, they are not approved as one of our members and we will not recommend their services to our customers.

Who is NJ Contractor Connection?
NJ Contractor Connection is the brainchild of three home improvement contractors who were all born and raised in New Jersey. Together, we possess a total of over 50 years of experience with the many aspects involved in home improvement. During this time, we noticed many issues, concerns, and questions were being raised by both customers and contractors. We listened to these concerns and decided that we could use our knowledge and expertise to enhance the home improvement experience for everyone involved. The number one concern of our customers is receiving a professional job completed by a reputable and fairly priced company. On the other hand, contractors want to form partnerships with customers who are serious about using their services and appreciate the hard work and experience that they bring to the project. So, based on these facts, we decided to create a company that can address the issues and needs of both parties.

Q: Who will be contacting me after I submit my free estimate request?
A: We (NJ Contractor Connection) will be the first people to contact you. We will make contact with you sometime during the first business day between the hours 9:00AM-7:00PM - after we receive your estimate request. After that your contact information will be given to the number of contractors you have requested (if possible) and they will be contacting you.
Q: Can I call and speak with a live person to request a free estimate?
A: Yes you can. Our office hours are 9:00AM - 7:00PM
Q: Can NJ Contractor Connection resolve complaints?
A: While we cannot strong-arm a provider to resolve the issue to your satisfaction, we find that if they care about their reputation, we often have the power of persuasion. However, we cannot guarantee a resolution.
Q: How does NJ Contractor Connection get paid?
A: NJ Contractor Connection receives a small referral payment from the contractors, not the customers.
Q: How often do you update your contractors information?
A: After a contractors initial approval, we make a six month verbal verification call with the owner, and we do a full re-screening every 12 months on the contractors enrollment anniversary.

Anyone who is thinking about hiring a contractor should definitely consider using the services of NJ Contractor Connection. They ended up sending out 5 different contractors because I did not fully understand that some specialty concrete work needed to be done before any carpentry and framing work could be started. Terms of Membership Agreement
As a member of NJ Contractor Connection you agree to the following conditions.
1. DEFINITIONS:
a.The name of our company is NJContractorConnection.com and will be referred to as NJCC for this agreement.
b.NJCC Members shall be referred to as you, your, yours, or members for this agreement.
c.Any person or persons who have requested use of our service shall be referred to as customer, or customers for this agreement.
2.COMPANY INFORMATION:
a.You will ensure all information provided by you to NJCC is accurate and up to date.
b.You will provide NJCC with a proof of your current Liability Insurance within10-15 days of signing this agreement.
c.You will inform NJCC immediately if your insurance has lapsed for any reason and you are without insurance.
d.You will provide NJCC with proof of any updated certificates or licenses within 30 days.
e.All members, owners, officers, directors, managers, shareholders, employees and subcontractors must not have a felony criminal record, and have the duty to inform NJCC immediately whenever they learn of such a criminal record.
f.NJCC reserves the right to terminate this agreement at our sole discretion without written notice.
3.ACCEPTING LEADS:
a.Members are expected to accept or decline a lead as soon as possible.
b.Do not accept a lead if you cannot complete the estimate/proposal and/or work in a timely and professional manner.
c.If you do accept a lead and for any reason change your mind and wish to decline the lead, you are required to contact NJCC as soon as possible to inform us of your decision.
d.Upon accepting a lead members are required to attempt your initial contact with a new customer within 4 hours of receiving the customers information.
e.Members are required to attempt contact with the customer three times within the first 72 hours. If you receive no response back within 96 hours contact NJCC.
f.If you have tried to contact the customer and suspect the customers contact information is incorrect contact NJCC.
g.Members are required to contact the customer as soon as possible if you are going to be more than 10 minutes late, or if you have to cancel/reschedule an estimate, workday, or meeting of any kind.
h.Members are required to rate the quality of all the leads you accept on a scale from 1-10 with a brief description about why you rated it that way. This information is collected solely for our data base with the intention of improving our performance, and the quality of the leads we offer to you, and will not be shared with any third party.
i.If a member fails to comply with any of the procedures stated in this section, NJCC may immediately terminate this agreement without written notice to the member.
4. WINNING LEADS:
a.When a customer accepts an estimate/proposal, members are required to send NJCC a complete copy of the estimate by fax, email or ground mail within 48 hours.
Members are requested to include estimated start and completion dates when possible.
b.Upon any change to the original estimate the member agrees to send an updated estimate/proposal to NJCC within 48 hours by email, fax or ground mail.
5.NJCC REFERRIAL FEE
a.Members agree to pay NJCC a referral fee of 8% on the first $10,000 of any project total.
b.Members agree to pay NJCC a referral fee of 5% on all monies earned after the first $10,000.
c.Members agree to pay NJCC a referral fee of 2% on any additional work from a customer gained through NJCCs network for a period of 1 year from the date of your initial estimate.
d.NJCC calculates its fee on the gross project total before taxes.
e.Members agree to inform NJCC within 24 hours after finishing a project and receiving your full payment by email or phone.
f.Members agree to pay the NJCC referral fee within 10-15 days of receiving an invoice from NJCC.
g.NJCC will at its discretion withhold new lead information from any member who has an outstanding balance with NJCC.
6.COMPANY CONDUCT:
NJCC Members observe the highest standard of integrity, reliability and professionalism in dealing with their customers.
a.By making no false promises or claims in advertising.
b.By providing professional courteous reception when the customer calls.
c.By keeping appointments at the agreed scheduled time. (If a conflict arises to call the customer and rescheduled prior to appointment.)
d.By providing a professional estimate/proposal of the customer project.
e.By encouraging only projects that are structurally and financially sound.
f.By being licensed by local authorities and following local requirements.
g.By being a certified installer by manufacturers when applicable.
h.By providing proof of insurance to customers.
i.By providing a current reference list to the customer.
j.By fulfilling all agreed upon contract obligations.
k.By providing manufacturers long term warranty when applicable.
l.By providing contractor labor warranty for a minimum of one year.
m.By maintaining communications with the customer regarding any changes in schedule, scope of work or unforeseen conditions.
n.By providing safe work conditions according to Industry Standards.
o.By being professionally responsive to customer service calls.
p.By attending continuing education programs.
q.By aspiring towards 100% Customer Satisfaction.
r.Members agree to refer all customers back to NJCC, for any job that you do not do. This allows another member of NJCC to benefit.
s.Members agree to refrain from making any derogatory comments against NJCC or any other contractor that you know is a member of NJCC.
t.Maintain highest level of professionalism even when not on NJCC jobs.
u.Members agree not to circumvent NJCCs role and directly enter into a relationship with a customer to avoid paying NJCC fees. We have the right to contact the customer directly to obtain information on monies paid to the member, and demand accounting from customers and members.
v.Failure of a member to pay any fees to NJCC will be deemed a material breach of the Agreement, justifying suspension of the performance of the services provided by NJCC and shall be sufficient cause for immediate termination of the Agreement. Any such suspension will in no way relieve member from payment of compensation, and, in the event of collection, member will be liable for any costs associated with such collection, including, but not limited to, legal costs, attorneys fees, courts costs, and collection agency fees.
7.Nothing in the Agreement must be construed to create an employer-employee relationship between NJCC and the member.
8.Members will not represent to be or hold itself out as an NJCC employee, agent, representative or an affiliate.
9.Members must indemnify and hold NJCC against any claims, obligations or liabilities including court costs and attorneys fees, arising out of members tortuous or unauthorized acts, misrepresentations, omissions, failure to perform its obligations, or any acts not expressly authorized in writing, related to or beyond the scope of the Agreement.
10.If a lawsuit be necessary to enforce the Agreement then the parties agree that jurisdiction and venue will be waived and suit will be brought in the county of the principal office of NJCC.
11.New Jersey Contractor Connection reserves the right to change any policy without prior notice at any time.
12.This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey (without regard to the laws that might be applicable under principles of conflicts of law) as to matters, including, but not limited to, matters of validity, construction, effect and performance.
13.Terms of Agreement are legally binding and that signature of a member constitutes a members approval to abide by the terms of the Agreements.
1.Read all of the included material.
2.Completely fill out and fax your Company Profile.
3.Read and have all Owners/Partners/Shareholders sign the last page (pg.10) of the Terms of Service Agreement.
4.As an approved member you account will be credited $50.00 toward your first referral fees. When we receive your information we will verify it, and notify you to let you know if you were approved. If you were not approved, NJCC will contact you to let you know the reason(s) and explain any actions that may be taken to resolve the issue. Each of our members goes through our extensive screening process. Only contractors who pass all of the following safety checks, and requirements are approved.
A.You must be appropriately licensed for your business /profession. We will verify that this is current.
B.You must carry appropriate liability insurance. We will verify that it is current.
C.We verbally confirm your reputation through testimonials from several of your past customers.
D.We run a criminal records and sex offender search.
E.We verify your identity through a basic background check, a phone number look up, and an alias search.
F.We run a legal search for civil judgments, liens, and bankruptcies.
G.We check Angie's list for good or bad reviews.
H.We search the Better Business Bureau for complaints.
I.We verify that your business has been in existence for a minimum of 3 years.
J.You are required guarantee your work for no less than one year.

NJ Contractor Connections Procedures & Guidelines
1.Initial customer contact: Our customers come from many sources- organically through our website, paid and free online advertising, newspapers, trade publications, etc
2.NJCC returns call or email within 1 hour: We try to have as close to an immediate response time as possible.
3.Complete customer screening ASAP: Before we offer a lead to our members we will call or email every customer to verify their contact information is correct, and make sure they are what we consider to be a serious customer. Also depending on the type of project, we may ask the customer for additional information.
4.Offer approved customer to requested # of members: After we verify the customer, we choose between 1-3 members as matches for their project. We will send a text to your phone, send an email, and in some cases we will tweet you on twitter.
5.Member Accept/Decline within 1 hr: NJCC expects members to get back to us ASAP regarding the acceptance and declining of offered leads. If we have not received a response from a member within 1 hour after the initial lead offering, we will contact the next best match for the project and offer them the lead. If for any reason you agree to take on a lead, and then after talking to a customer you want to drop out of the bid, inform NJCC immediately so we can get another member to respond.
6.NJCC sends prospect info to contractors: After a member has accepted a lead the corresponding customer/project information will be sent to the NJCC member in the form of an email, fax, or phone text. Please contact NJCC if you have any questions regarding the information we have sent to you.
7.NJCC member attempts contact within 4 hrs of receiving info: We expect members to attempt phone contact a soon as possible. If a customer does not appear to be responding to phone calls please contact us.
8.In person estimate/project discussion: Most projects will require an in person worksite visit before you can estimate the cost of the project. Please contact the customer if you are running late for your meeting with them. When you have your estimate complete, and ready to send to the customer, members are required to send NJCC a complete copy of the estimate and rate the quality of the lead for our records.
9.Customer accepts: Member contacts NJCC within 48 hours after a customer accepts your estimate/proposal. Provide an estimated start and completion date for the project when possible. Inform NJCC of any changes to the initial estimate, and provide an updated copy to NJCC within 2 days. Inform NJCC of any status changes to the project, delays, add-ons, or problems.
10.NJCC member completes project & receives payment: Please contact NJCC within 48 hours after you have satisfactorily completed a project, and the customer has given final payment for your services.
11.NJCC bills contractor the required amount: After you have been paid NJCC will send you a bill for the amount due.
12.Contractor sends payment to NJCC: When you receive the bill please pay within 15 business days to avoid a 2% late charge.
13.NJCC sends a satisfaction survey: Approximately 1 week after the work for the project has been completed NJCC sends out a Customer Satisfaction Survey to make sure our customer is happy with the work that has been performed. Any complaints will be forwarded to the NJCC member responsible, and are expected to be completed to the customers satisfaction when possible.

a.The company name is NJContractorConnection.com and shall be referred to as NJCC for this agreement.
b.NJCC Members shall be referred to as you, your, yours, their, or members for this agreement.

c.If a member accepts a customer lead and for any reason changes their mind and wish to decline the customer lead, the member is required to contact NJCC as soon as possible to inform us of your decision.
d.Upon accepting a customer lead, members are required to attempt initial contact with a new customer within 4 hours of receiving the customers information.
e.Members are required to attempt contact with the customer three times within the first 3 days. If you receive no response back within 4 days contact NJCC.
f.If a member has tried to contact the customer and suspect the customers contact information is incorrect, contact NJCC immediately.
h.Once your estimate is complete and ready to send to the customer, members are required to send NJCC a complete copy of the estimate. Also include estimated start and completion dates when possible, and rate the quality of the lead on a scale of 1-10 with a brief description about why you rated it that way. This information is collected solely for our data base with the intention of improving our performance, and the quality of the leads we offer to you, and will not be shared with any third party.
a.When a customer accepts an estimate/proposal the member agrees to contact NJCC within 48 hours by email, fax, or phone.
b.Upon any change to the original estimate the member agrees to send an updated estimate/proposal to NJCC within 48 hours by email or fax.
5.NJCC REFERRAL FEE

h.NJCC will assess a $30.00 charge for any returned checks.
c.By keeping appointments at the agreed scheduled time. (If a conflict arises call the customer and reschedule prior to appointment.)
g.By being a manufacturer certified installer when applicable.
m.By maintaining communications with the customer regarding any changes in schedule, scope of work, or unforeseen conditions.
t.Maintain the highest level of professionalism even when not on NJCC jobs.
All Owners/Partners/Shareholders must sign this agreement.

How Easy is it to Get a Free Estimate from NJ Contractor Connection?

2.Depending on your personalized request and the availability of contractors in your area, you will be contacted by 1-3 service providers. They will set up appointments to meet you and discuss your project.
3.You choose the contractor that best suits your project needs.
Unfortunately, NJ Contractor Connection is not authorized to act as legal council or offer arbitration between customers and service providers; however, because of our relationship with our members, we find that our suggestions and feedback are very well received. Regardless, we cannot guarantee that a resolution will be reached with the involvement of NJ Contractor Connection.
Any service provider that has an unresolved complaint will be removed from the network, at the discretion of NJ Contractor Connections, until the issue has been resolved.
